In this vital role, you will lead and supervise inmate work crews, maintain plumbing tools and equipment, and perform preventive maintenance on all facility plumbing systems. Responsibilities include cleaning sewer lines, repairing fixtures, and completing a variety of general maintenance tasks.

- Clears small and large sewer drains; repairs toilets, sinks, faucets, water heaters, and boilers.
- Installs plumbing fixtures, drains, and water lines.
- Conducts general maintenance as directed by supervisors.
- Drives on State business.
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment.
- Knowledge of building and preventative maintenance, water heaters, water softeners, boilers, drainage systems, backflows, plumbing tools, and equipment.
- Knowledge of national and local building codes, safety practices, commercial gas lines, blueprints, and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) to create reports and charts.
- Skills in written and verbal communication; scheduling maintenance repairs; time management and organizational techniques.
- Abilities to lift or carry up to 50 lbs; push or pull up to 50 lbs; walk or run up to 0.25 miles; read and understand blueprints; remodel, install, or construct utility services; work in a prison environment.
- One year of journeyman‑level plumbing experience.
- Background investigation, drug test, and medical/physical examination.
- If driving is required, possession of a current, valid, class‑appropriate driver’s license; completion of required training; maintenance of acceptable driving records; and liability insurance for state business vehicles.
- Annual tuberculosis (TB) test during orientation and yearly thereafter.
- Successful completion of E‑Verify (Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program).
