This position is responsible for coordinating the administrative details of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) grant program by assisting the director in recruiting student program participants; providing supplemental academic advising services; explaining related regulations, policies, and form completion procedures; and scheduling programs. Additional responsibilities include monitoring the National Science Foundation (NSF) grant budget, completing related site reports, and maintaining student demographic and program participation data.

This position is a grant-funded position. Initial and continued employment in this position is contingent upon funding by the sponsoring agency.
- Coordinate the administrative details of the LSAMP program;
- Participate in administrative problem solving, program/project planning, development, and execution of stated goals and objectives;
- Serve as a primary point of direct administrative contact and liaison with other Alliance partners;
- Assist in the development and execution of program initiatives;
- Assist in the coordination of the student recruitment and application/registration process;
- Mentor and assist the current cohort of program scholars with their contractual agreement(s) to participate in stipend activities;
- Provide students with clear, effective advising, guidance, and support to enhance program participant progress and success;
- Create and maintain a supportive environment that provides tools for program participants to become proficient in navigating the procedures, policies, and protocols of the academic and administrative areas of UNA, e.g., registration of semester classes, general education requirements, degree works, etc.;
- Utilize outreach strategies on a regular basis, including branded program social media accounts, for student communication, motivation, and community building;
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local educational institutions, community organizations, and STEM professionals;
- Collaborate with partners to create opportunities for research experiences, internships, and scholarships for program participants;
- Manage the mentoring program to help maintain STEM student program participation, and to ensure program participants engage in research;
- Create and maintain database(s) of files (e.g. project, registration material, etc.) and maintain responsibility for all data collection and reporting requirements for NSF LSAMP grant;
- Assist in the creation, composition, and editing of internal and external reports, communications, correspondence, surveys and documentation;
- Assist in balancing, monitoring, and reconciling NSF grant budget lines by performing monthly reconciliation duties and preparing expense reports for management review/approval;
- Work with the external evaluator;

- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a STEM‑related field or STEM education field;
- Experience in development and implementation of educational programming OR experience in academic administration is preferred.

- Knowledge of academic support services (e.g. advising, peer mentoring, tutoring), student programming, and student services;
- Ability to work with diverse groups and advise program participants;
- Ability to prepare and present information effectively to both groups and in one‑on‑one settings;
- Ability to collaborate effectively with external partners;
- Knowledge of and ability to follow university, sponsoring agency, and department of education policies and procedures;
- Knowledge of current technologies, specifically Microsoft office (365) applications;
