Position: Environmental Tech- 2nd Shift PT
Job Description

Performs a variety of heavy cleaning and service tasks in order to maintain the Medical Center in an orderly, sanitary and attractive condition for patients, personnel and visitors. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior.

Works under the supervision of an Environmental Services Supervisor who assigns work and inspects for compliance with Medical Center standards.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizing a large pushtruck, makes regular rounds of assigned Medical Center areas and picks up trash; delivers full carts to appropriate area for disposal. May collect and burn contaminated waste.
  • Regularly sweeps, vacuums, and wetmops designated floors throughout the Medical Center; uses automated equipment which cleans, strips, waxes, and buffs floors. Reports equipment deflects to supervisor.
  • Vacuums, shampoos, spot cleans, extracts, and applies protective coating to carpeting in all areas of the Medical Center complex.
  • Transports beds, furniture, cleaning supplies and so forth to all parts of the Medical Center. Receives, unloads and inventories incoming cleaning supplies.
  • Cleans and maintains halls, waiting rooms, entrances ways, storage areas, receiving dock, tunnel and other assigned areas.
  • Washes walls, ceilings, and light fixtures using ladders, cloths and other necessary cleaning equipment.
  • Inventories supplies and equipment and reports to supervisor any other items necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Maintains Environmental Services equipment by removing accumulated dirt, lubricating moving parts, and checking circuits, wiring, and batteries. Turns repair orders in to supervisor.
  • May perform all duties and responsibilities characteristics of a Housekeeping Aide.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • High school graduate and/or GED equivalent.
    • Reasonable experience in performing custodial or related work.
    • Working knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures.
    • Working knowledge of cleaning materials, such as soaps, powders, polishes and waxes.
    • Working knowledge of the care of mops, brooms, scrubbing brushes, dusters, and mechanical cleaning equipment.
    • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to work harmoniously with fellow workers and other employees.
    • Sufficient strength and health to permit the performance of manual work.
    • Ability to meet the physical, mental and visual standards of the job.
    • Ability and willingness to work in a manner that will not needlessly endanger the safety of one's self, other persons and equipment.
