JOB SUMMARYPerforms professional duties in the area of nutrition and dietary practices, including client evaluations and assessments, and individual and group teaching. Works directly with pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants and children until age 5; works under the general direction of the Division Director or his/her designee; performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS- Evaluates clients' nutritional status, considering nutritional practices and deficiencies.
- Completes comprehensive nutritional assessment and makes appropriate referrals.
- Conducts and evaluates dietary assessment.
- Assesses social, psychological and economic factors in client's life style that may impact their nutritional status.
- Teaches nutrition at the client's level of comprehension and continuously evaluates the level of success.
- Teaches groups in nutrition and dietary practices.
- Communicates nutrition needs of client to interdisciplinary team and plans appropriate care.
- Performs outreach to WIC eligible individuals through information and education activities at various community sites.
