Overview
Villa at Beecher Place is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join their team. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) helps patients/residents with comprehensive and personalized health care needs under the supervision of a nurse. The CNA assists patients/residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting and exercising. At this facility, this is a collectively bargained position under the union.
Responsibilities- Under the direction of the Director of Nursing or CNA Supervisor, the CNAs work closely with the nursing staff to ensure coordination of patient care.
- Provide physical support for patients/residents daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring to/from bed, toileting, walking, standing, or exercising.
- Turn and reposition bedridden patients.
- Ensure proper resident/patient diet based on their dietary restrictions.
- Measure and record food and liquid intake.
- Examine patients for open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine.
- Note and communicate patient/resident behavior and changes in mood.
- Gather medical supplies.
- Clean rooms and bed linens.
- Check and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Answer patient calls and needs.
- May assist patients being transported to and from appointments.
- All other duties, as assigned.
- Good collaboration and teamwork skills with the nursing staff.
- Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Meets all health requirements, as required by law.
- Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff.
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- State Certified Nursing Assistant License/Certification.
- Current CPR certificate or become certified within 90 days of employment, preferred. Some facilities may require this.
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, and ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices, is required.
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
- Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
