Bio Works Energy, located in Flint Township, Michigan is looking for a engine generator technician/mechanic. Bio Works Energy generates renewable electricity through the conversion of food processing wastes into biogas.

Must possess a shared vision of company growth and outcomes aligned with management. The engine technician position will be responsible for a major profit center of the business.

Join our team as a skilled stationary engine generator technician where your expertise in large internal combustion engine-generator operations using gaseous fuels, maintenance, and mechanical knowledge will shine. We are looking for a dedicated individual who excels in rotating/general equipment, and engine/generator, maintenance. This role offers the opportunity to utilize your technical skills and contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities.

• Operate engine generators to achieve optimized power generation including adjustments to key operating parameters
• Maximize engine uptime 24/7/365
• Prioritize tasks to maintain engine uptime goals
• Biogas and or landfill gas experience is a plus
• Respond to systems shutdowns as necessary to maintain equipment up times
• Conduct routine operation and maintenance of stationary rotating equipment such as generators and machinery
• Perform repair tasks related to operations of internal combustion engine generators
• Perform repair tasks on rotating equipment including greasing/replacement of bearings, repair of pumps, engine components, etc
• Daily operation and inspection of systems to insure optimized performance
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues promptly
• Utilize schematics to fabricate parts as needed for equipment repair
• Operate and maintain hand tools effectively
• Ensure proper functioning of all stationary equipment through regular inspections
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate maintenance activities efficiently

• Communication – be able to effectively communicate with management and colleagues to coordinate activities and maximize performance
• Ability to perform tasks under pressure in a fast-moving environment
• Excellent critical thinking skills
• Proficiency in internal combustion engine and power generation theory of operations using gaseous fuels such as natural gas and biogas
• Proficiency in electronic engine control systems to efficiently optimize power production from gaseous fuel low quality natural gas sources
• Strong mechanical knowledge and experience in equipment repair
• Good electrical knowledge and experience in equipment repair and systems
• Ability to interpret schematics and use manuals for troubleshooting or fabrication purposes
• Experience in generator repair and maintenance a plus but not necessary
• Capability to perform heavy lifting tasks as necessary
• Skilled in using hand tools effectively for maintenance work

Bachelors Preferred

Internal combustion engines and rotating equipment: 5 years Required
