Academics Instructor On-Call at Serrato Corporation
This position is an on‑call role distinguished from a full‑time Academic Instructor by its as‑needed basis. The instructor delivers individual and/or group lessons designed to help students overcome specific difficulties in mathematics and reading, and provides instruction to students enrolled in Reading, Mathematics, Workplace Communications, Career Success Standards (CSS), Health Education, Driver's Education, or HSD/HSE. The instructor conducts and manages academic classes.
PrimaryPosition Objective
Deliver as‑needed instruction in an on‑call capacity within a regular classroom setting, promoting a positive learning environment.
Brief Description Of Duties- Perform as an instructor in a substitute capacity, presenting instruction in the areas listed above.
- Promote a positive and motivating classroom atmosphere.
- Maintain discipline to maximize learning.
- Establish strong student‑instructor rapport.
- Coordinate curriculum development with career‑tech instructors.
- Utilize available curricular resources for effective instruction.
- Prepare adequately for each classroom session.
- Maintain student personal folders, recording data such as test scores, evaluations, incident reports, awards, and attendance.
- Participate in ESP (evaluation of student performance) processes.
- Evaluate student employees’ academic and CSS performance and provide regular feedback.
- Work toward meeting performance‑management goals.
- Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
- Assist with quarterly graduation exercises.
- Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices, and Center policies.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.
- Demonstrate and uphold Serrato Corporation’s core values and operating principles.
- Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate Career Success Standards.
- Participate in PRH‑mandated staff training; failure may result in disciplinary action up to termination.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Computer literacy, including basic functions, email, internet, and programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
- High level of communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- High level of ability to motivate, inspire, and educate students effectively.
Minimum of one to two years related educational experience.
EducationBachelor’s degree in education from a four‑year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates/Licenses/Registration- Valid State Driver's License.
- State teaching certification in the state where the center is located (RO may waive if unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification).
