Salary And Benefits

NEW Increased Salary schedule for the  school year with salaries ranging from $47,496 (BA) to $96,683 (MA+30) depending on qualifications and experience.

Role And Essential Duties

The School Psychologist conducts psychological testing and assessment of individuals suspected of having a disability. Participates as a member of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and the Individualized Education Planning Team (IEPT) for individual students, as assigned by their supervisor.

Essential Duties (May Include, But Not Limited To)

  • Evaluates students as part of a team or individually using appropriate tests and observations.
  • Uses tests and other evaluation instruments in order to assist in identifying students’ present level of academic achievement and functional performance and determine eligibility for special education.
  • Communicates, interprets, and explains psychological data to students, parents/guardians, educational and other relevant personnel.
  • Participates in MET and/or IEPT meetings as requested.
  • Prepares and analyzes written psychological and other reports.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate records, such as School Based Services (Medicaid), Easy IEP and Time Study participation.
  • Consults, counsels, and collaborates with parents, school personnel, students and appropriate community agencies regarding behavioral and educational concerns developed in a multi-tiered system of support.
  • Collaborates with staff in planning educational interventions, curriculum-based assessments, behavioral supports, and instructional strategies.
  • Participates in staff meetings, in-service activities, staff development/special programs, school improvement teams and planning committees as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Supports the district system development to implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for behavior.
  • Guides LEA problem solving and implementation planning through a data-based decision-making process designed to use capacity, fidelity, and student outcome data.
  • Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
Other Duties:

  • Represents the district on various community agencies and professional organizations as appropriate to the assigned area.
  • May provide the administrator information to facilitate the budget development process in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:

Michigan Department of Education School Psychologist Certification or fully licensed as a School Psychologist by the State of Michigan.

Experience

Successful 500 clock hours of university-supervised internship. Minimum of one year of successful experience supervised by a Michigan approved school psychologist.

Skills/Other

Knowledge of administration and interpretation of tests, understanding of content and construction of tests. Knowledge of curriculum based and functional assessments. Integration of psychological data, both oral and written, interviewing and consultant skills. Knowledge of classroom management techniques, instructional strategies, theories of learning, personality assessment and communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge and competency in the area of literacy, social-emotional development and positive behavioral interventions and supports.
