Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity within the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership Procurement Services, Supply Chain, Logistics & Transport Team. The role is based in South Wales and involves overseeing efficient fleet operations for NHS customers across Wales, managing the Organisation’s Supply Chain and Health Courier Service Fleet. The successful candidate will contribute to strategic direction whilst adhering to ISO/Quality frameworks.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support the Deputy Head of Supply Chain, Logistics & Transport, primarily in fleet management and logistical support.
- Enable efficient use of fleet assets across all functions, ensuring cohesive structure and integrated working.
- Manage project timescales and deadlines, aligning with business plans and delivery targets.
- Support development of local and wider business plans in line with annual delivery plans and strategies.
- Demonstrate leadership and delivery in a dynamic, operational environment.
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate Diploma level in Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport or equivalent.
- Specialist knowledge of contract law, EU legislation and transport governance.
- Knowledge of NHS and government policies, political and economic climate.
- Manager (CPC) holder or willingness to work towards qualification.
- Qualification to Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Professional stage or CMILT.
- Experience in project management (PRINCE2 or alternative) is desirable.
Aptitude and Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication, ability to present ideas clearly.
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills, building productive relationships.
- IT proficiency – Word, Excel, databases, web research.
- Ability to speak Welsh (desirable).
- Familiarity with integrated web‑based systems.
Experience:
- Proven experience in complex operational management within a challenging environment, on budget.
- Experience in project managing, meeting deadlines, coordinating operational delivery plans, costings and purchases.
- People/staff management experience.
- Track record of savings and business indicators (desirable).
- Knowledge of legal, compliance and probity issues.
