As the City’s newest Recreation Leader II (Temporary), you will actively support and uphold the City’s stated mission and values. The Parks, Recreation, Open Spaces, Events Division is looking to hire a friendly and dependable person with excellent customer service skills.
The Recreation Leader II will be responsible for oversight of recreation programs and relaying all rules and regulations to patrons who participate in all ice arena activities. Please note: this is a temporary, part-time, non-benefitted role.
Responsibilities- Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Assists in supervising the work of lower level staff, such as recreation leaders, rink guards, cashiers, etc.
- Assist with special events, setup, running the event and cleanup.
- Assists with program registration. May operate a cash register and/or collect/deposit fees.
- Monitors the condition of the facility or program space and equipment.
- Opens and/or closes facility as needed.
- Sets up facility or program space. May include basic custodial duties and contact with household chemicals.
- Completes required reports, including attendance, revenue, injury/incident, etc.
- Suggests ideas for program/facility development and assists with program/facility preparation.
- Answers patron questions and enforces facility and program rules.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.

Minimum Requirements- Some training or experience pertaining to the assigned recreation emphasis area or participant group.
- Ability to operate ice resurface, small tractor, fill propane, and run an ice edger.
- Any combination of experience and training indicating the ability to successfully fulfill the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Some supervisory experience.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, split shifts, evenings, and weekends as needed to facilitate public recreation programs.
- Ability to lift objects 10-20 pounds routinely and 20-50 pounds occasionally.
- Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 3 months of employment.
- Positions with significant potential exposure to blood borne pathogens:
Hepatitis B vaccinations initiated within 1 month of employment and completed within 1 year. - Positions working with youth and/or vulnerable populations: pre-employment background investigation.
