Nature of Work
Under supervision performs administrative work of moderate difficulty; performs related work as assigned.
Typical Duties- Coordinates and schedules specialized departmental functions, meetings, and travel
- Oversees an administrative unit's record management systems and databases
- Serves as lead staff
- May supervise employees as assigned
- Provides training to assigned staff
- Assists with special projects as assigned
- Prepares and maintains statistical and administrative reports
- Gathers and prepares information for budgetary purposes
- Creates, processes, and distributes confidential and sensitive documents and correspondence
- Coordinates the preparation, distribution and preservation of departmental records
- Communicates and acts as liaison with other departments, agencies and the public
- Attends meetings to represent the department
- Composes and types correspondence, contracts, reports and other documents
- Researches pricing and vendors and prepares requisitions for needed goods and services
- May perform research regarding grants and external sources of funding
- May take and transcribe meeting minutes
- May receive and account for money
Under general supervision, performs work of average difficulty in facilitating the transfer of ownership via recorded deeds and other legal documents to maintain the Assessor's ownership records. In addition, apprentices with and assists the Cartographer in the maintenance and updating of Assessor cadastral records from legal descriptions, survey notes, and other written materials, using computer and GIS systems; performs related work as required.
Minimum QualificationsFive years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical experience; OR, Associate’s degree and four years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical experience; OR, Bachelor's degree and three years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
The Ideal CandidateWill have one year of experience in title examination, title processing or one year of coursework in cartography, surveying or related subjects: one year of coursework in GIS; or any combination of education, training, experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Preferred QualificationsInclude specialized knowledge and experience with chain of title examination and/or Real Estate. Knowledge and experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or other mapping or survey. Previous Assessors experience, (in-state or out-of-state).
This position is non-exempt from overtime.

- Perform complex administrative functions with speed and accuracy
- Meet deadlines and maintain workflow
- Accurately maintain records and prepare reports
- Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
- Follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
