Please Note: This position is stationed in Tuba City, Arizona with occasional travel requirements throughout Coconino County. During election seasons there may be mandatory overtime on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Typical Duties- Assists with and implements Hopi language translation of the Accessible Voting Equipment instructions
- Translates ballot initiatives and races
- Record the audio prompts and ballot races in the Hopi Language
- Travels to Flagstaff or central location to assist with the technical recording and proofing of Hopi language prompts and ballot language
- Provides relevant information regarding voting in Hopi language
- Produces reports on voter outreach activities and results
- Assists the public with voter registration and early voting
- Driving back and forth between Flagstaff and Tuba City
- Receives, sorts, files and retrieves forms, correspondence and documents
- Compiles reports and summaries of work
- Updates, checks and completes records, forms and documents
- Verifies discrepancies and makes corrections
- Processes documents to update and maintain files and records
- Research records and disburses information
- Processes & distributes confidential and sensitive documents
- Operates and maintains a variety of office equipment
- May perform data entry
- May orient and train other clerical staff
- May coordinate calendars, schedules, meetings, training and travel arrangements
- May assist other agencies and the public with information forms and other department resources and explaining procedures
- May answer incoming phone calls
- May order, receive and distribute office and program supplies
driving, sitting; working with and around others; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist) for computer work; vision acuity (near‑far) for routine office and customer service duties; color vision for reading maps; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity for typing and paperwork.
Minimum QualificationsThree years' experience in performing clerical or administrative work within subject area; or Associate's degree and two years' experience in performing clerical or administrative work within subject area; or Bachelor's degree and one year experience in performing clerical or administrative work within the subject area; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
AdditionalRequirements
Must be able to complete a background check. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Ideal Candidate- Fluent in the Hopi language and resourceful and motivated to provide Hopi language translation for election materials and accessible voting equipment for the 2026 Primary and General elections; to provide voter education and access to election activities for Native American communities in remote locations within Coconino County; and have the ability to work independently while representing the County's values and goals.
- Experience working a federal election, familiarity with federal and state of Arizona election laws, and is a team player with excellent customer service and data entry skills.
