Responsibilities

• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods following safety and quality standards, including temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
• Label, stock, and inventory ingredients and merchandise accurately.
• Check product quality, review 'sell by' dates, and take necessary actions.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep logs.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Maintain a welcoming environment for customers and assist with product questions and suggestions.
• Report discrepancies, unsafe conditions, or accidents to management.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts professionally and act with honesty and integrity.
• Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge
• Ability to obtain a food handler’s permit upon employment
