The Role

The Manager/Senior Manager of Finance and Accounting will lead the company s financial strategy and operations, while collaborating with the CEO and the executive team. This position reports directly to the CEO and has accountability to the Board of Directors. In addition to Finance, this position will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate accounting operations, which is currently completed by a third-party, but is part of the role to determine the best way forward.

Given that we are a fast-growing, young smaller business, all leadership roles at UTG must be both strategic and hands on  are seeking a candidate who can rapidly develop and desires to grow into a CFO role. This role will have broad authority to establish the organization, processes, and technology required to have a best-in-class Finance and Accounting function.

Responsibilities
  • Fully participate on the Senior Executive Team
  • Fully understand the business to create and present financial, accounting and tax strategy
  • Oversee/manage accounting, currently in a third-party capacity
  • Provide financial strategy, planning, analysis and insights
  • Oversee cash flow, cash management, working capital, progress billing, and company audits
  • Prepare financial statements and reports
  • Ensure legal compliance on all financial functions
  • Manage relationships with banks
  • Provide financial forecasting and budget oversight
  • Provide after-project review/profitability analysis
  • Negotiate benefits, business insurance, terms, and conditions of other contracts
  • Stays up on current events that impact a business like UTG and is continually learning new approaches and the next things we should be considering both functionally and as a company
  • Champion continuous improvement, automation and off shoring as means to improve margins
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s in Accounting, Finance or a related field, MBA is a plus
  • Experience with project-based accounting and finance is a must
  • Experience developing the financial strategy for a company
  • Experience working with sales teams in order to validate revenue forecasts
  • Experience working with data and analytics through an ERP, knowing Power BI is a plus
  • ERP experience, experience with Acumatica is a plus
  • Ability to look across the company and prioritize cost savings opportunities
  • Experience with Microsoft power automate and/or leading automation is a plus
  • Experience working for a large company to learn best practices, and preferred small company experience, especially a scaling company
  • Experience with M&A, raising investment funds, and generating new business ideas are all a plus
  • CPA is a plus
  • Demonstrates strong communication and collaboration internally and externally
  • Comfortable in a fast-growing, scaling company
