The Pre‑K Teacher provides a high‑quality early learning experience for four‑year‑old children enrolled in the Mecklenburg County Pre‑K program. The teacher supports children’s cognitive, social‑emotional, language, and physical development through developmentally appropriate, play‑based instruction and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with NC Pre‑K standards.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that promotes school readiness.
- Support children’s social‑emotional growth and positive behavior.
- Observe, document, and assess children’s progress using required assessment tools.
- Communicate effectively with families and collaborate with teaching staff and administrators.
- Participate in required professional development and coaching activities.
- Assistant Teacher:
Currently enrolled in an early childhood education program or willing to enroll and actively work toward required credentials as outlined by NC Pre‑K and DCDEE. - Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and licensure support through the NC Early Educator Support (EES) system.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn early childhood best practices and child development principles.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team‑oriented attitude.
- Experience working with preschool‑aged children in a licensed early childhood or NC Pre‑K classroom.
- Familiarity with developmentally appropriate practice and play‑based learning.
- Experience supporting children’s social‑emotional development and positive classroom behavior.
- Knowledge of or experience with classroom observation, documentation, and assessment tools.
- Experience partnering with families and working collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
