The Estimator/Project Manager for the Fencing Division plays a vital role in the success of Specialties Company’s operations. This position serves both internal and external customers, striking a balance between strong client relationships and effective project execution. The Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for overseeing projects from bid through completion, ensuring accuracy in estimating, efficiency in project delivery, and quality in field performance.
Effective communication with clients, vendors, and field personnel is essential to achieving project goals safely, on time, and within budget.
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with existing clients while pursuing new business opportunities in the fencing market (commercial, industrial, and municipal).
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and project proposals.
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers.
- Coordinate project activities with field superintendents and crews to ensure smooth scheduling and execution.
- Manage awarded projects, including pre‑construction meetings, material procurement, scheduling, and change orders.
- Support contract administration and billing processes, including documentation and cost tracking.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience estimating and managing construction projects, preferably in fencing, guardrail, or other specialty contracting.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and industry standards (INDOT or municipal experience preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and digital takeoff or estimating software.
- Self‑starter with the ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Valid Driver License.
- Requires pre‑employment drug screen.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience in estimating and project management will be considered.
