Primary Purpose of the PositionSupervises the assigned plant maintenance function as directed.
Essential Responsibilities- Maintain a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing safety inspections, and investigating accidents.
- Support development, implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the food safety system.
- Administrator and supervisor of the plant maintenance function.
- Arrange for adequate levels of supplies, materials and parts to avoid operational interruptions.
- Resolve technical problems within the area of responsibility.
- Provide and plan technical training.
- Ensure all equipment in the area is properly maintained and upgraded.
- Maintain daily logs, scheduled and unscheduled work sheets, and equipment preventive maintenance plans.
- Stay current on new technologies and apply them to manufacturing processes.
- Input, retrieve, and use information from computer systems.
- Maintain positive relations with local bargaining units to ensure high productivity.
- Initiate, review, master, and follow all SOPs for the area.
- Maintain an employee relations climate of trust and confidence to discourage third‑party interference and promote plant and company goals.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, division, group, and company.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, and be on call as directed by management.
- Comply with hazardous waste and environmental management requirements by completing scheduled training.
- Communicate with the emergency coordinator or environmental focal point/manager regarding environmental activities.
- Respond to emergency procedures and implement contingency plans as required.
- Maintain environmental documentation and report status to the EC or EM.
- Enforce job safety practices, policies, and procedures as specified by plant and corporate directives.
- Minimize waste generation by prudent use of materials, proper disposal, and segregation.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations for hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and wastes.
- Broad training in a related field, typically obtained through college or work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of job‑related experience.
- Advanced skills in evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard processes for machine shop, electrical shop, maintenance shop, chemical process, and tooling inspection techniques.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Complete any individual assignments directed by management.
- Negotiate with contractors for facilities and building maintenance.
- Operate and use a computer effectively.
- ómo perform basic arithmetic, geometric, and algebraic calculations.
- Maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
- Working knowledge of product specifications, equipment technology, and supervisory practices.
- Follow company policies, procedures, practices, and conduct standards as outlined in the Ball Corporation manual.
- Work in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Be exposed to occupational hazards such as high noise levels, physical obstacles, and chemical exposure.
- Wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear as required.
- Hiring Salary Range: $85,900‑$119,890 (salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, and market data).
