OEG is seeking a Balance of Plant (BOP) Lead Technician join its team at their Hunmanby, United Kingdom office. This role involves offshore and onshore work as required by the project. The role is responsible for the safe execution and coordination of Balance of Plant activities across offshore wind projects.

Responsible for the safe execution and coordination of Balance of Plant activities across offshore wind projects. The role focuses on mechanical, structural, and auxiliary systems and provides competent technical leadership during construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance phases.

the BOP Lead Technician provides day-to-day leadership to a small offshore team, coordinating tasks, maintaining standards of safety and quality, and acting as the primary technical point of contact between the team and offshore supervision.

The BOP Lead Technician operates within defined procedures, task instructions, and project controls, ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements. The role supports multidisciplinary offshore teams and interfaces with OEMs, contractors, and client representatives as required, within the boundaries of assigned scope and authorisation.

This role does not confer electrical authorisation or independent system control unless explicitly appointed and authorised under project-specific arrangements.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Balance of Plant

Activities:

Execute and coordinate Balance of Plant activities in accordance with project procedures, task instructions, and approved methods of work.

Carry out and oversee inspection, installation support, maintenance, and preservation activities on BOP systems, including mechanical, structural, and auxiliary systems.

Identify defects, non-conformances, or damage to BOP systems and support corrective actions in line with project processes.

Technical Support and Interface:

Provide competent technical support to offshore operations and project teams within the defined BOP scope.

Interface effectively with other disciplines, including electrical, commissioning, and OEM teams, to support coordinated offshore activities.

Support preparation and readiness activities for construction, commissioning, and handover phases, where instructed.

Team Leadership and Coordination:

Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to a small team of BOP technicians.

Coordinate task execution in line with work packs, permits, and project priorities.

Ensure team members understand task scope, hazards, and control measures prior to work commencing.

Monitor work quality, progress, and compliance with procedures.

Act as the first point of escalation for technical or operational issues within the team.

Support the development, mentoring, and on-the-job guidance of less experienced technicians.

Health, Safety, Quality and Environment (HSEQ):

Work in full compliance with project HSEQ requirements, statutory regulations, and company policies.

Lead and participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and method statement reviews relevant to assigned tasks.

Actively identify and report hazards, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, and intervene where unsafe acts are observed.

Promote a positive safety culture and lead by example in offshore environments.

Documentation and Reporting:

Ensure accurate completion of work records, inspection reports, checklists, and defect reports.

Provide clear and timely feedback to supervisors and project management on task progress, constraints, and issues.

Support documentation and close-out activities associated with project handover.
