The Festus School District is seeking applicants for the position of:
Parent Educator - Parents as Teachers

Position Title:

Parent Educator - Parents as Teachers

Start Date:

February 23, 2026 or soon after.

Salary:
Minimum $22.42 per hour - pay is dependent on years' experience.

Qualifications:

* Certification and/or a four-year degree in either Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Social Work or a related field and demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents

* Must receive a one-week training/certificate in the Parents as Teachers Foundational Curriculum and Model Implementation from the Parents as Teacher National Institute in St. Louis, MO. Parent Educator must annually complete required professional development hours as established by DESE in order to remain a certified Parents as Teachers parent educator.

* Prior experience in working with young children and their families in a home visiting program preferred.

* Effective communication and interpersonal skills (nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathic, patient, tactful).

* Organized, detail oriented, independent and self-motivated, with unquestionable integrity.

* Skillfully able to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths.

* Competent with computer skills including; email, word processing and the ability to use the PAT record keeping system.

* Personal, licensed and insured reliable transportation is necessary to provide home visits throughout our four school districts.

* Must be available to work some days, evenings and weekends.

* Must physically be able to sit on the floor during visits, lift 40lbs, and stand in one place for up to 2 hours.
