Financial Accountant

The Vacancy

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Group Financial Reporting team. This is a key role where you’ll take ownership of external regulatory reporting for the Aster Group, including VAT, NROSH, and annual financial reports.

You’ll play a vital part in supporting the year‑end audit, providing technical accounting guidance, and driving process improvements. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and detail‑oriented finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively and making a real impact.

• Preparing statutory accounts for subsidiary companies and supporting the group’s consolidated accounts.
• Assisting with the year‑end audit and responding to queries to ensure a smooth process.
• Coordinating and delivering regulatory financial reporting, including VAT returns and submissions to HMRC.
• Providing technical accounting support across the business and staying up to date with reporting requirements.
• Leading and developing an Assistant Financial Accountant through effective delegation and coaching.
• Championing continuous improvement and supporting process enhancements across finance.

A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with at least two years post‑qualification experience in financial or management accounting. You’ll have:

• Strong technical accounting expertise, including consolidation and statutory accounts preparation.
• Experience with audits and external reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of VAT and corporation tax, ideally within the housing sector.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders and external advisers.
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to review work critically and constructively to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to manage workloads and deliver to tight deadlines.
• Experience of managing or mentoring others.
