Temporary Pool–Facility Maintenance Technician
THIS IS A CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT POOL.
The Department of Housing and Residence Life coordinates the renovation, maintenance and management of over 1600 on‑campus student housing facilities. The residence halls are organized into living‑learning communities that integrate academic and extra‑curricular learning. This position is essential personnel within the department, with weekly scheduled days and hours that may include weekends, evenings, and on/off‑hour emergencies.
Weekly scheduled days and work hours will vary and may include weekends and evenings. Advance notice of schedules will be provided.
Vehicle requirement: valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (preferably five or more years of experience with no more than one minor at‑fault accident in past three years).
Primary Purpose of the Position:
- Work Order Control – Accurately maintain work requests; assure all maintenance is completed accordingly.
- Project Management – Receive and complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Preventive Maintenance – Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Emergency Management – Respond to all‑weather and mechanical emergencies; classified as essential.
- Air Conditioning Repair and Troubleshooting – Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain various AC systems.
- Plumbing – Repair, replace, and troubleshoot plumbing systems.
- Electrical – Repair, replace, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Misc. Task Management – Maintain a flexible task management system that allows for constant change.
Minimum
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Completion of grammar school and three years of progressive experience in mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school graduation or equivalent. Trade experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of general procedures of applicable trades and maintenance techniques with proficiency in relevant tools, materials, and equipment.
