The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Traffic Signal Technician I to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, installation, repair, maintenance and upgrade of traffic signal control devices, including traffic signals, flashers, cameras, support structures, closed circuit camera systems and programmable schedules for school flashers; and to provide staff support to the Traffic Services Department.
ResponsibilitiesAny combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
ExperienceNo experience needed.
EducationEquivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by additional specialized training in electronics, installation or maintenance of traffic signal devices or a related field.
Licensing & Certifications Required- Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six months of hire.
- International Municipal Sign Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Level I certification is required to be obtained within twelve months of hire. Applicants with an active CDL are preferred.
- Work Zone Training certification;
Forklift certification. Applicants with an active CDL are preferred.
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment DOT drug screen, DOT physical, Physical Abilities Test, background check and driving history check.
