Control Room Operator – Night Shift

Position Overview

Work in this classification is entry-level administrative work in monitoring the Detention Center Control Room. The classification will help to safeguard the facility by diligently monitoring surveillance systems, promptly responding to emergencies, and effectively communicating with detention center personnel. Work is performed under the supervision of the Control Room Supervisor and is evaluated by direct observation of daily activities, retrospective review of employees’ actions in various situations, and review of employees’ written reports and completed forms.

• Monitor Sally Ports, entrance ways, and hallways of the Detention Center by observing surveillance cameras.
• Provide access to areas as requested by personnel.
• Complete reports on all issues while on shift.
• Maintain a log of equipment and report any issues that need technology or maintenance support.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Management Preference.
• Previous experience in security, surveillance, or related fields.
• Background check with local law enforcement agency required.
• Drug testing required as per county policy. Refusal or a confirmed positive test will result in withdrawal of the conditional employment offer.

• Strong observational skills with an attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to follow direction and work with others.
• Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Some familiarity with security procedures and protocols.
• Ability to operate surveillance and access control systems.
• Willingness to maintain a commitment to uphold human rights and respect in all interactions.
