The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers courteously, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of functions across all store areas as business needs require.
Essential Functions- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times.
- Assist customers – register‑trained, help with merchandise, answer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner.
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to customers; handle issues courteously, calling store leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company’s dress code.
- Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice.
- Expedite newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor with urgency and merchandize per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understand loss prevention awareness programs, shortage highway, store protection specialist (SPS) when applicable, and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty; safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follow mark‑out‑of‑stock policies, process disposals, and coordinate with leadership.
- Follow all cash, check, charge‑card, and refund transaction policies; maintain accuracy handling bankable tenders.

- Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.
- Stand, walk, and move around the store 100 % of working time.
- Bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
- Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 pounds.
