As the Assistant Grocery Manager, you help customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service through managing and leading one of the busiest teams in our store.

• Assist the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
• Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Grocery team
• Effectively coordinate merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork
• Assist in leading a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience your customers receive
• Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Grocery Team
• Unload and sort through store deliveries
• Ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations, and validate that other Grocery team members are also aware of and following these procedures

• At least 18 years of age and 1‑3 years of retail management experience (familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets preferred)
• Dependable and reliable with a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes; including nights, weekends and holidays. Walking up to 3 miles per 8 hours is expected.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to give and receive direction in a team environment
• Outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with our customers
• Proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff, and working knowledge of personnel, margin, weekly sales, and financial goals
• Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Strong organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
• Must be able to vertically transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs., from 9” to 62”, for up to 25 hours
• Must be able to vertically/horizontally transfer boxes weighing up to 50 lbs., from 5” to 34”, for a distance up to 5 feet for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance
• Repetitive squatting, kneeling, or bending to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours is expected
