Nurse Practitioners should be proficient in skills necessary to fulfill government requirements, including fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.

All candidates must hold a current, unencumbered license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and certified in VHA-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.

Primary Care Nurse Practitioners should be certified in family practice, Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), with a minimum of 5 years of recent experience.

All candidates must not be listed on the OIG excluded parties list.

Responsibilities include performing physical exams, diagnosing, treating diseases, prescribing medications, and providing direct patient care, which accounts for approximately 95% of their time.

Scope of care includes providing family practice and interventional family practice consultative services, including assessment, diagnostic work-up, patient education, ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests, and documenting all clinical activities in the electronic patient record system (CPRS) on the day of the encounter.
