Head Start Compliance Coordinator
Action Pathways, Inc. — Fayetteville, NC — Full‑time, Non‑Exempt
Job DetailsSalary: $49,177 per year
Travel: 50% required
Work may include nights and weekends
Head Start compliance coordinator ensures a Head Start program adheres to Head Start Performance Standards, federal regulations, and state laws by monitoring program operations, staff performance, health and safety procedures, and contractual obligations. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate documentation and databases, conducting site visits, performing data analysis, preparing reports, and providing training to ensure compliance.
Essential Functions- Conduct ongoing monitoring of Head Start centers and facilities to assure compliance with HSPPS, federal, and state regulations.
- Monitor contracted facilities, including childcare centers and family childcare homes, for contract compliance.
- Resolve and troubleshoot compliance concerns in a timely manner.
- Maintain complete and accurate compliance documentation in program databases.
- Prepare and distribute timely reports, updates, and findings.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to assess program compliance and performance.
- Identify compliance issues and develop action plans.
- Develop and conduct training for staff on policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to staff to support compliance efforts.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met across program sites.
- Collaborate with program leadership, directors, staff, and other agencies to foster accountability and excellence.
- Maintain confidentiality of client, family, and agency information.
- Bachelor’s degree in social science, health administration, social work, psychology, business administration, or related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Head Start family services, health, mental health and nutrition services, and/or education services.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with the Child Plus database system or similar.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Head Start Program, federal regulations, and state childcare regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in database management, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license; reliable transportation.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.
