Primary Purpose of the Organization: The Department of Facilities Management functions are to design, construct, maintain and operate the physical facilities of the University. The number one objective of the department is to provide and maintain facilities that will enhance and support the mission and academic goals of the University. Our approach is centered upon providing a superior level of customer service.
The primary responsibility of the organizational unit is providing cleaning, sanitizing and floor care to campus housing and academic and administrative buildings.
Primary Purpose of the Position: The overall function of this position is to utilize a standard cleaning assignment to clean and sanitize an area of responsibility within a building(s). The position is also responsible for reporting discrepancies found within the building in addition to responding to emergencies and inclement weather. The position will use standard housekeeping equipment to accomplish assigned tasks such as:
Responsibilities- Vacuuming
- Mopping
- Scrubbing
- Dusting
- Disinfecting
- Floor work
- Operating floor machinery
- Emptying trash and recycling containers and other duties as assigned
This position is scheduled for up to 40 hours per week. Weekly scheduled days and work hours will vary and may include weekends, evenings and holidays. Advance notice of schedules will be provided.
Qualifications- Minimum
Education and Experience Requirements:- Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Safety footwear and PPE requirements:
To ensure the safety and well-being of all employees, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include safety shoes is required in designated work areas. Employees are responsible for obtaining and wearing the required safety shoes before beginning work and throughout the duration of work in areas where foot protection is necessary. Safety shoes should include reinforced toe protection (steel or composite toe caps), puncture-resistant soles, and slip-resistant outsoles.
