Summary
Responsible for providing psychological evaluation, intervention and consultation for patients at the CMHC of Cape Fear Valley Health System. Provide assistance and consultation to other psychotherapists and clinic team members as needed. Serve as a clinical resource and provide psychological services to patients and their families who are seeking mental health services through the CMHC.

Major Job Functions- Provide psychological evaluations
- Interview patients and their family members as needed to ascertain appropriate psychological services needed
- Provide psychotherapy with patients, families and groups
- Provide psychological counseling services to patients in the Cape Fear Valley Rehabilitation Center
- Prepare and maintain confidential case records
- Ensure confidentiality and controls access to sensitive information
- Complete all required documentation
- Provide patient and family education
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including diverse interest groups, advocacy groups and other governmental organizations
- Assist support staff when needed to ensure accuracy and prompt response to patients
- Work with physicians, psychotherapists, and other providers to ensure efficient scheduling and work environment
- Collaborate with other staff in handling patient complaints and resolving problems
- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings, managerial and other related meetings
- Keep and maintain correspondence and other important documentation to ensure compliance with hospital, clinic and regulatory policies
- Other duties as assigned
- Master’s degree required
- Doctorate degree in Psychology preferred
- Current Psychological Associate license issued by North Carolina Psychology Board with specialized training and expertise in evidenced-based treatment required
- 1 year experience with psychological assessment and therapy required
- 1 year experience in a medical setting preferred
- 1 year experience across a range of modalities beyond individual adult treatment to include child, couples, and family treatment preferred
- Knowledge of and/or experience working with local social service, public health, and other Organizations and resources
- Demonstrate leadership capacity and ability to foster team-building and a supportive, flexible environment
- Solid understanding of computer functions to include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, photocopier and fax machines
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact tactfully with co-workers, visitors, patients and other staff
- Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to veterans, their families, staff, supportive services personnel, funders and the general public
- Ability to make oral presentations
- Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control amid difficult circumstances and emergencies
- Ability to adapt to change
- Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations
- Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of psychological recommendations
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and reliable

- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals
- Excellent spelling and grammatical skills
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to work independently and have good organizational and communication skills
- Ability to negotiate patients or their family members down from stressful situations, potential threatening behaviors
- Ability to persuade clients to make appropriate life decisions
- Regularly required to sit, talk and hear
- Occasionally required to stand, reach with arms and stoop, kneel or crouch
- May require some light to moderate lifting
- Ability to work under physical and mental stress
- Motor coordination and finger dexterity are required to operate the calculator, computer and typewriter
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
