. The role is part of Eaton’s Power Distribution and Controls Assemblies business within the Electrical Sector.
These positions can be based in Asheville, NC;
Fayetteville, NC;
Greenwood, SC; or Portland, OR, and will offer relocation assistance.
The Product Engineer (often internally referred to as a Custom Order Engineer or COE) is primarily responsible for providing electrical and mechanical design and documentation support for power distribution or control product lines. This includes engineering designs, collaboration with application engineers and manufacturing associates, utilization of design automation software, and producing/maintaining manufacturing documentation.
Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience. The annual salary for this role is $75,000 and a one-time $6,000 signing bonus is offered.
What You’ll Do- Consult with plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications.
- Develop a variety of complex drawings and bills of material based upon established product designs, providing sufficient detail to convey the purchaser’s equipment application.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products.
- Advise Drafting/Design, Manufacturing, and Purchasing – when required – in interpreting information for accurate production of equipment.
- Manage purchaser onsite visits to approve and/or release equipment for shipping.
- Manage Manufacturing and Engineering Change Notices.
- Demonstrate advanced computer skills and ability to learn required software (Bid Manager, AutoCAD, Design Automation, MAPICS).
- Consult with Quality in resolving issues after the equipment is shipped, when required.
- Conduct special development/application projects of a complex nature.
- Inform cost and cycle time improvement activities.
- Conduct technical training guidance and seminars, as required.
- Analyze needs and recommend revisions to Department Policies and Procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution with a graduation before August 2026.
- Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8.

- Minimum of one internship or co‑op experience or an equivalent of 3 months of related experience completed at the time of this application.
- Degree in electrical engineering.
- Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
- Electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing Internship/Co‑Op experience.
- Knowledge of power distribution products (LV and MV Switchgear, Panel boards and Switchboards, Motor Control Centers, etc.).
- Experience with PLC or relay programming.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Project Management experience.
- Geographical flexibility to relocate within the United States to an Eaton facility – Asheville, NC;
Fayetteville, NC;
Greenwood, SC;
Portland, OR. - Strong analytical, computer, writing, presentation and customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information to customers and manufacturing.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of design standards.
