Overview

The Cape Fear Valley School of Nursing at Fayetteville State University seeks an Associate Dean to serve as the chief representative of the school, lead internal affairs, and act as liaison between the school faculty and university administration. The Associate Dean is the administrative and instructional leader of the school, collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as the chief representative of the School of Nursing and lead internal affairs.
  • Act as liaison between the school faculty and university administration.
  • Provide administrative and instructional leadership for the school.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and other administrators to advance the school’s mission.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • A doctorate degree in nursing or a related field.
  • An active, unencumbered North Carolina RN license.
  • A record of excellence in teaching, research, and service commensurate with the rank of a tenured Associate Professor/Professor.
  • At least two years of full-time faculty experience in a Board-approved nursing program.
  • Demonstrated academic or nursing leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated command of theory and practice in the field.
  • Meet regulatory requirements for educational degree level and field experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Empathetic and patient, with the ability to accommodate student challenges while maintaining educational standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with accreditation and regulatory reporting
  • Experience in community college or higher education settings
  • Experience with grant development and management
