Summary of
Job Duties:
The Assistant Professor of Adult and Lifelong Learning is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Counseling, Leadership, and Research Methods in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. The duties and responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in adult and lifelong learning; conducting research that results in refereed publications and professional presentations; pursuing external funding;
chairing/serving on doctoral advisory and dissertation committees; and engaging in service activities in the program, department, college, university, and professional/scholarly organizations. Consistent on-campus presence and active engagement in departmental life are essential functions. Extensive in-person engagement in activities such as office hours, collaborative work, and committee meetings is expected to advance departmental effectiveness and support the college and university9s mission.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Teach graduate courses related to adult and lifelong learning;
Engage in research resulting in refereed publications and professional presentations;
Pursue external funding;
Chair/serve on doctoral advisory and dissertation committees;
Engage in service activities in the program, department, college, university, and professional/scholarly organizations;
Maintain consistent on-campus presence and participate in departmental life;
Exhibit regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance and foster collegial working relationships.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctorate from a nationally recognized and accredited institution in adult and lifelong learning, or a closely related field, conferred by the start of employment
An established or emerging research agenda focused on adult and lifelong learning outside of the for-profit workplace, community college leadership, adult basic education and literacy, adult and lifelong learning policy, adult development, or related areas
Evidence of scholarly productivity (e.g., publications, presentations, grants)
Ability to teach graduate courses related to adult and lifelong learning, community colleges, or adult basic education and literacy
Professional experience in adult education or community colleges
Graduate teaching experience
Online teaching and/or learning experience
Experience submitting and/or securing external funding
Expertise in quantitative research methods
