• Maintains a positive parent-teacher relationship
• Interacts appropriately with children
• Maintains Learning Centers
• Maintains a warm, inviting child-friendly classroom environment
• Plans and implements educational programs and daily activities
• Establishes a weekly schedule and lesson plan
• Promotes each child's social, emotional, intellectual and physical development
• Provides a clean, safe and healthy work environment
• Maintains accurate records
• Documents children's progress and completes all state-required documents
• Provides instruction for teachers
• Manages children's behavior
• Complies with the provisions of the Child Maltreatment Reporting Act by reporting any suspected cases to the Director or Co-Director for possible reporting to the designated reporting agency
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Formal Training

• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required
• CPR and First Aid certifications required
• Infant Toddler Safe Sleep (ITS-SIDS) certification required

Work Experience

• 1 year of responsible classroom experience in a professional large Child Care Center required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Knowledge of physical, intellectual, emotional, and social characteristics of children ages birth to five years old and up to 12 years old for weekend care
• Knowledge of state child care regulations

Physical Requirements

• Work involves a variety of activities to include walking, standing, and lifting of children and various objects
• Ability to stand for 30 minutes
• Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and age appropriately
