Major Job Functions- Maintains a positive parent-teacher relationship
- Interacts appropriately with children
- Maintains Learning Centers
- Maintains a warm, inviting child-friendly classroom environment
- Plans and implements educational programs and daily activities
- Establishes a weekly schedule and lesson plan
- Promotes each child's social, emotional, intellectual and physical development
- Provides a clean, safe and healthy work environment
- Maintains accurate records
- Documents children's progress and completes all state-required documents
- Provides instruction for teachers
- Manages children's behavior
- Complies with the provisions of the Child Maltreatment Reporting Act by reporting any suspected cases to the Director or Co-Director for possible reporting to the designated reporting agency
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Formal Training
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required
- CPR and First Aid certifications required
- Infant Toddler Safe Sleep (ITS-SIDS) certification required
Work Experience
- 1 year of responsible classroom experience in a professional large Child Care Center required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of physical, intellectual, emotional, and social characteristics of children ages birth to five years old and up to 12 years old for weekend care
- Knowledge of state child care regulations
Physical Requirements
- Work involves a variety of activities to include walking, standing, and lifting of children and various objects
- Ability to stand for 30 minutes
- Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and age appropriately
