Dietary Aide

Overview

Dietary Aide / Dining Services Associate at Viva Senior Living. Reports to the Food Service Director.

• The essential functions of the job for the Dining Services Associate, as assigned by Viva Senior Living, include but are not limited to the following:
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe sanitary manner in accordance with public health regulations and sanitation code.
• Be familiar with Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment through safe work habits and proper hand washing and routine cleaning.
• Serve attractive, nutritious meals in a pleasant, respectful manner, mindful of the special needs of residents.
• Practice safe usage of all equipment within the department and clean, sanitize, and maintain equipment according to cleaning schedules.
• Prepare the dining rooms daily: set tables, pour beverages, clear and clean dishes.
• Receive stock and store it according to procedures; follow cleaning procedures when mechanical equipment is unavailable (e.g., power failures).
• Performs other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director and report any violations of department policies or procedures.
• Ensure residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere, recognizing individual needs and rights.
• Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals per facility policy; report work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to a supervisor.
• Complete all assigned training and skills competency; participate in life safety and emergency drills and trainings; assist with evacuation during emergencies as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information and report non-compliance or breaches to appropriate personnel; protect residents from abuse and cooperate with investigations.

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday; able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet, and carry such weight up to 50 feet.
• Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly residents and manage emotional stress associated with the position.
• Must meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination; provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
