Position: University Recreation Graduate Assistant for Fitness

What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):

  • Assist the Assistant Director of Fitness in overseeing the daily functions of the personal training program
  • Supervise and support a team of 10+ personal trainers to enhance their performance
  • Administer fitness programs and maintain accurate records related to program participation and staff schedules
  • Foster collegial and harmonious working relationships within the team
  • Develop UA Career-Ready skills including critical thinking and professionalism

What is Required (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Admission to a graduate degree program prior to employment
  • Current personal training and/or group fitness certification from an accredited fitness organization
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or ability to obtain within 40 days of hire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and supervisory skills

  • Experience working in a Campus Recreation setting as a student employee
  • Experience in a leadership role within Campus Recreation
  • Knowledge of collegiate recreation and fitness programming
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
  • Skills in organization and time management
