To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members. Provide additional time and support so students master the curriculum.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides learning experiences and teaches the course of study prescribed by the District's approved curriculum.
Develops and uses instructional material suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturity.
Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help the students make a satisfactory transition to school, using data to guide instruction.
Establishes and maintains standards of research based classroom management required to achieve effective participation in all activities.
Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records.
Provides appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet school/District policies, goals and objectives.
Communicates with parents through a variety of media.
Collaborates with school personnel on a regular basis.
Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student progress and interpret the school program.
Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health and learning problems.
Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays such as bulletin boards, interest centers, etc.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or professional growth activities and university courses.
Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which she/he will be evaluated in conformance with District guidelines.
Selects and requisitions instructional materials; maintains inventory records.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises classroom, students, and volunteers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's Degree from accredited college or university.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid MO Teaching Certificate.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
