Summary of

Job Duties

As part of the Retention team, the Academic Advisor will be responsible for advising approximately 700-800 undergraduate business students, including new freshman, graduating seniors, non-traditional, study abroad, and students with disabilities. This position also focuses on students who may be on academic probation, suspension, students facing potential dismissal, as well as assisting in the development and implementation of special programs targeting at-risk students and programs geared towards improving student engagement and retention.

In addition, the Academic Advisor teaches 2-3 sections of Freshman Business Connections each fall semester, assists with New Student Orientation in the summer, as well as prospective student visits as needed to support the recruitment team.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least two years of experience working in a higher education environment
