History, Social Sciences, and Philosophy - Reports to:
Department head/program director/dean who assigns responsibilities regarding student needs and course outcomes.
Work performed primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into a computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 50 pounds.
Routine work schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional overtime and travel required.
Job Duties
Teach in one of the following subject areas as assigned:
Anthropology, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology.
- Classroom and online instruction
- Assess and evaluate student learning
- Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates.
- Requires consistent on‑time attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and/or Work Experience
:
Qualifications of instructors teaching in the classroom for both lower and/or upper-level courses leading to an associate or bachelor's degree requires a master's degree in the discipline or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the subject area. Courses leading to a master's require a doctorate degree. Adjunct faculty with a clinical assignment must be prepared at the level required by accreditation.
Instructors in occupational and technical areas are generally required to have a minimum of an associate's degree and related work experience. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
