Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Statistics at University of Arkansas

The Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in statistics to begin August 15, 2022. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment.

The position is open to candidates with research interests in Statistics, Probability, Biostatistics, Data Science, or Machine Learning. Preference will be given to candidates whose skills support established areas of the department, but all qualified candidates will be considered.

The University of Arkansas has an established and growing interdisciplinary MS program in Statistics and Analytics and has created an Institute for Advanced Data Analytics. The University has recently launched an interdisciplinary BS in Data Science. Faculty hires are intended to support the new program, as well as research in the broad area of data science underway across the University. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, have a promising research and publication agenda, and a commitment to university service.

The application package should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a publication list, and brief descriptions of research agenda and teaching philosophy. Applicants should also arrange for four letters of recommendation, at least one of which must address the applicant’s teaching experiences and capabilities.
