Position: Director of Student Health (10 Months)

Reports to: Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students

Status:10-month full-time

The Director of Student Health is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of Student Health Services. This is a full-time, 10-month position with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 403(b) retirement plan, and tuition grant. Additionally, we provide generous paid leave, which includes numerous College-paid holidays. The Director of Student Health reports to the Vice President of Student Life & Dean of Students.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner
  • Prior experience in college or ambulatory health
  • CPR and AED certification

Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of the College Health Center:

  • Recruit, supervise, and provide ongoing training for the registered nurses
  • Work collaboratively with the physician consultant to ensure students receive appropriate care.
  • Evaluate and treat, provide diagnostics and prescriptions, and make referrals for students as needed.
  • Effectively manage departmental budget, as well as departmental assessment and planning
  • Coordinate the ordering of medical and other health office supplies
  • Oversee the functioning of College AED and NARCAN machines, perform monthly checks, and order supplies.
  • Provide annual educational training for the Residence Life staff and campus-wide health education.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all health records. Collect and review all health forms including immunization records for all undergraduate students, including periodic monitoring and follow-up during the summer months.
  • Provide oversight for the electronic medical records (EMR) system to ensure accuracy, security, and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate data collection related to health center utilization.
  • Consult and collaborate with the Counseling Center, athletic trainers, and other college offices related to students’ mental and physical health.
  • Ensure the College is meeting all city, state, and federal requirements related to College student health.
  • Coordinate health information and necessary precautions related to health issues that affect the College community.
  • Develop a collaborative working relationship with Security, Residence Life, Student Life, and the Chestnut Hill College community.
  • Maintain a relationship with the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Public Health.
  • Keep current on College Student Health issues.
  • Work with the Student Life staff to develop a peer-health education program.
  • Work with members of the Student Life Team to develop and execute educational programming related to Alcohol and Other Drugs.
  • Serve on the Wellness committee, attend student-life staff meetings, staff development days, Accepted Student Days, Griffin Days, Opening, and Graduation, and serve on task forces and/or committees.
  • Meet regularly with nurses and Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students as needed.
  • Report unsafe or concerning health-related issues to the Vice President for Student Life
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the College and the Sisters of St. Joseph.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students.
