Physician-Supervisory Psychiatrist

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (1 to 5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Contract:

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

* Performs psychiatric evaluations for a diverse population, including geriatric and post deployment combat Veterans, who are mentally ill and have psychosocial issues such as homelessness, unemployment, and poor family support network.

* Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.

* Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.

* Modalities for patient care include face-to-face, tele-video, and phone calls as clinically appropriate. Provider must be able to incorporate alternative encounter modalities into clinic.

* Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.

* Maintains appropriate licensing and board certifications as applicable.

* Participates effectively in team meetings and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care.

* Functioning as part of a psychiatric care team working with other physicians, PA's, APN's, nurses and/or other support staff.

* Orders diagnostic tests and consultations. Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.

* May participate in supervision and teaching in support of medical students and residents in training.

* Outpatient: 1 hour provided for new patients, 30 minutes for follow ups.
