Physician - Neurologist

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

To qualify, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

• United States Citizenship:
  Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the US.
• Residency Training:
  Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be approved by the VA or equivalent, including non-US programs followed by verified practice in the US.
• Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may only be appointed intermittently or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Preferred Experience:
  
  Board-certified or eligible Neurologist with electromyogram, electroencephalogram, and nerve conduction velocity experience or training.
• Physical and environmental requirements include light lifting, use of fingers, walking, standing, rapid coordination, color discrimination, hearing, and ability to work in various environmental conditions.

• Provide outpatient and inpatient neurology consults, including nerve conduction studies, electromyogram, and electroencephalogram.
• Conduct nerve conduction studies.
• Participate in committees, boards, and projects relevant to the subspecialty.
• Work schedule:
  
  Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with on-call duties.
