Job Description
At an entry‑level painting position, you will be responsible for performing various painting operations on parts, bodies, and sub‑assemblies, setting up and operating complex paint equipment, and ensuring compliance with the company’s systems, procedures, and health and safety requirements. Your daily tasks will include handling material and waste between processes, maintaining quality of own work, performing housekeeping and preventive maintenance, and supporting the department supervisor in documentation and scheduling.

- Ensure quality of own work/product.
- Perform daily housekeeping and preventive maintenance within the department.
- Participate in daily department meetings and continuous‑improvement/lean enterprise activities.
- Participate in department design and controls.
- Support the department supervisor in maintaining documentation.
- Fill in for the supervisor when necessary.
- Cross‑train within the department.
- Perform various painting operations on parts, bodies, and sub‑assemblies.
- Set up and operate complex paint equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned or fill in for others in the department or other departments as needed.
- Motivate individuals and encourage teamwork.
- Plan and allocate tasks within the department through daily stand‑up meetings.
- Conduct local scheduling to achieve the production plan.
- Develop and progress training plans.
- Define staffing requirements for and induct new employees.
- Maintain documentation and conduct department audits.
- Communicate within the department; generate, display, and communicate department performance.
- Improve processes and resources within the cell to achieve performance targets.
- Resolve conflicts and problems within the department.
- Attend and support supervisor meetings, evaluate improvement suggestions.
- Secure premises, equipment, and products within the cell.
- Be familiar with company paperwork such as computing labor hours, absence/tardy reports, daily recap sheets, and GEMBA/whiteboard.
- Train or instruct fellow workers as needed.
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a manufacturing environment.
- LEAN manufacturing experience.
- Prior manufacturing leadership.
- Working knowledge of 5S.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Working knowledge of paint booths.
- Experience in leading teams up to 25.
- 1‑2 years of experience in managing teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of shop math and basic engineering and business calculations.
- Able to deal with mid‑management or executive level contacts.
- Automotive/Equipment paint experience; minimum of two years.
- 2‑4 years of related functional experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
