Job Summary:

Technicians at Current Watersports play a pivotal role in the success of the company. They inspect trade-ins, service customer boats and make repair recommendations. At time they may even help complete estimates, put together work orders, review invoices, maintain accurate records, and assist with warranty claims. They also assist in other departments as needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for carrying out the daily duties of a Marine Mechanical Technician, including but not limited to the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of marine engines, transmissions, drive train and related electrical equipment
  • Performs all seasonal preventative maintenance (i.e. oil changes, replace belts and hoses, winterize engines, etc.)
  • Completes a detailed 50 point inspection on all boats before servicing them
  • Attends dealership/manufacturer-sponsored training
  • Assists other departments when necessary including the pro shop and sales department
  • Assists other employees in delivering a clean/detailed boat as needed
  • Occasionally assists with on water boat shows, deliveries, demos, tests, and presentations
  • Assists with winter boat shows
  • Helps achieve a smooth running & efficient service department with a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Maintains a neat & clean work environment
  • Reviews work-in-progress to ensure quality and timeliness
  • Follows procedures for quick & efficient handling of warranty items, including tagging and proper storage of these items

Qualifications &

Job Requirements
  • Ideal candidate will have experience working with marine or automotive
  • A degree from a mechanics school or vocational school is a plus but not necessary
  • Candidate must be customer service oriented, professional, and great at multi-tasking. Knowledge about watersports and boating is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, work ethic, desire to achieve high results, and organizational skills
  • Has the ability to self-manage; check and double check one’s own work
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
  • Must be a team player and have a positive attitude
  • Have the desire to work in a fun and laid-back atmosphere yet professional and results driven
Physical Demands
  • Requires the use of both hands
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and handle tools
  • Ability to climb in and out of boats, crawl underneath and inside them
  • Occasionally requires the ability to lift 50 pounds of material
Working Conditions
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
  • Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning material or other toxic materials commonly found in motor vehicle service departments some of which may be considered health hazards
  • Occasionally exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles
  • Summertime can get hot when working outdoors and requires protection from the sun as needed
Compensation

Position is full time, and the pay is based on experience and ability. Starting pay ranges between $20 and $26 an hour. Benefits include 401k with up to 3% match, paid holidays and vacations, along with health insurance with a large portion of it being company paid.
