These roles provide essential assistance to healthcare professionals in delivering patient care. Ensure the smooth functioning of clinical operations by handling tasks that support the diagnostic, therapeutic, and procedural aspects of patient care. Allied Health - Health Services professionals work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services. These roles focus on the treatment and care of patients with kidney failure or chronic kidney disease (CKD), and are integral to managing patients who require dialysis.
Professionals work in various healthcare settings, including outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
- Experience: Previous health care experience preferred.
- Licensure: Certified as a Patient Care Dialysis Technician by a State Agency or Nationally Recognized Certification Program within 18 months of hire date.
- Certification: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
- Titles: Criteria for use of the titles of dialysis patient care technician or dialysis care technician, or administering medications in a Medicare certified renal dialysis facility, require one of the following certifications:
1) Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) by NNCC;
2) Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) by BONET;
3) Certified in Clinical Nephrology Technology (CCNT) by NNCO; or
4) Certification/licensure as a dialysis technician or similar title by another U.S. jurisdiction with standards substantially equivalent to those in Virginia.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling; repetitive motion related to building dialysis machines and wrist rotation. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 50–100 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The starting base rate for this role is $18.37 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
