Teacher Assistant

Summary

Under the supervision of the principal, or other supervisor, the teacher assistant assists the teacher with the conduct of a class. The assistance takes a variety of forms, such as preparing class materials, correcting and recording assignments, and a wide variety of other services.

5.9 hours per day/183 days per year/Salary Grade 3 $ 16.92 per hour (Support Salary Table 2025-26)

THIS POSITION WILL BE WORKING WITH CHILDREN 3 - 5 YEARS OLD.

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Education Manager, the teacher assistant assists the teacher with the functions of the classroom. The assistant provides a variety of functions, such as preparing class materials, assisting with activities, working with children, etc.

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

1. High school graduation or equivalent education and/or experience.

2. The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; an associates degree or a CDA (Child Dev. Associate Credential), or working on a CDA.

3. Interpersonal and communication skills.

4. Secretarial/clerical skills, including ability to operate a computer may be required.
