Operations Engineer

Base pay range$47,736.00/yr - $52,509.00/yr
Essential Functions- Under the direction of a certified Water or Wastewater Operator, performs tasks associated with the operations of a water or wastewater facility.
- Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent.
- Reports operating problems to lead operator or supervisor and performs directed corrective action during assigned shift.
- Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels.
- Observes and reports abnormalities to Certified Operator.
- After training, operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control.
- After training, starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes.
- Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings.
- Learns and gains skill in a variety of equipment maintenance, servicing, and operating tasks.
- Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties.
- Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
- Takes and records readings produced from the operation of equipment.
- Learns to take samples and perform routine process laboratory tests and analysis under supervision of certified operator.
- Daily and punctual attendance in the office and/or job site.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
- This position may be required to be available on an on‑call basis for emergencies.
- Travel between work locations is required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Position reports to Supervisor(s), Project Director, Project Manager.
- Works under close supervision; employee’s work product is subject to close, continuous review.
- Employee receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.
- Employee is expected to attend a Jacobs Workplace on a full‑time basis, as required by the nature of the role.
- High School Diploma / GED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
