Parkland Health Center offers a unique combination of world-class medicine along with the deep local roots and rich history of its three predecessors – Bonne Terre Hospital (opened in 1911), Mineral Area Regional Medical Center (1952), and Farmington Community Hospital (1969). Parkland Health Center has two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri – a full-service acute care hospital in Farmington as well as a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre.

Parkland Health Center provides quality primary and secondary level inpatient and outpatient services to the people of St. Francois County and surrounding areas in southeastern Missouri.

In addition, Parkland’s Farmington campus offers a full continuum of inpatient and medical-surgical and intensive care, obstetrics and emergency services, along with a wide variety of outpatient services including oncology services, an infusion center, a wound care clinic, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. Bonne Terre is a Rural Emergency Hospital providing emergency services and outpatient services including medical observation, lab, radiology, and sleep study.

Post Operative Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care to those patients undergoing specialty surgical procedures. Inpatient care in this department focuses on pre-op needs, post-op care and treatment after phase I recovery through discharge.

Role Purpose

The Assistant Nurse Manager provides administrative support to Nurse Managers and direct reports. This includes coordinating patient care, performance management of direct reports, equipment purchasing/management, and statistical accumulation.

Responsibilities
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages and evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Participates in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and has direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Provides and oversees patient care according to planned interventions with regard to age and developmental needs to attain the patient s optimal level of wellness and documents according to policy.
  • Creates and ensures implementation of a collaborative plan of care based on assessment, diagnosis and medical treatment.
  • Supports review of staff hours worked vs scheduled hours and determines appropriate disposition if variation exists. Performs and approves daily payroll updates. Reconciles time cards, bonus tracking and coding approval. Prepares, coordinates and executes all staff communications; prepares huddle agendas and leads meetings. Determines staffing needs; makes nursing assignments as well as assigns overtime. Recommends effective annual increases. Interviews staff for open positions;

    evaluates and conducts performance reviews as assigned; drafts and issues corrective actions/coaching; follows up regarding any disciplinary action to determine compliance.
  • Responsible for staff productivity and the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership. Conducts performance evaluations and makes recommendations on areas of improvement if needed.
