SMMHC Care Assistant

Overview

Job Location: This position will be located at 1010 West Columbia Street in Farmington, MO.

Why you’ll love this position: The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center is seeking motivated, energetic, and compassionate Support Care Assistants to join our pioneering nursing service teams. These positions involve providing assistance to forensic clients with mental illnesses within a secure environment. Ideal candidates should possess compassion and demonstrate proficiency in working within a trauma-informed, recover-oriented setting.

• Provide direct care, treatment, and/or security of forensic psychiatric and/or sex offender clients in a secure setting
• Accountable for assisting clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks
• Assist in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned
• Collect and maintain records of fluid intake and output
• Report on the condition of clients
• Observe, report, and record changes in the physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of clients
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities
• Reporting to work on time and as scheduled
• Work overtime as needed to retain adequate staffing
• May perform internal environment of care checks or perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting
• Requires heavy lifting and the ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Other duties as assigned
• Base pay is $17.20 per hour with an additional $2.00 per hour (making it $19.20 per hour) for 2nd and 3rd shifts depending on scheduled hours

• Must be at least 18 years or older
• Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric population
