Your Role as the Certified Medication Technician (CMT)

Americare Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Certified Medication Technician (CMT) to provide safe, accurate medication administration and compassionate resident care within our skilled nursing community. You will support residents’ health, safety, and quality of life by administering medications, assisting with daily living activities, and collaborating closely with licensed nursing staff in a clinical environment.

This Role May Also Be Known As Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Medication Technician (CMT), Med Aide, Med Tech, or Medication Assistant.

What You’ll Do
  • Administer prescribed medications under the supervision of licensed nursing staff
  • Verify resident identity prior to medication administration and document dosage, time, and observations
  • Monitor residents for medication responses and promptly report adverse reactions or concerns
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and mobility
  • Recognize and report changes in resident condition to charge staff
  • Take and record vital signs and report abnormalities per facility policy
  • Identify medication shortages and immediately report concerns to the supervisor
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to resident care, intake, and output as ordered
  • Support coworkers by providing assistance as needed
  • Complete admission, discharge, and transfer documentation as required
What You Bring

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Certified Medication Technician (CMT) course approved by the State of Missouri
  • Active CMT certification in good standing, with annual updates as required

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety
  • Compassionate, resident-focused approach to care
  • Clear communication skills and professionalism
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as needed
  • Push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistance
  • Maneuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.
Safety Requirements
  • Follow proper resident care procedures, including two-person lifts when required
  • Utilize required PPE to prevent exposure to blood borne pathogens
  • Report work-related injuries immediately and complete required documentation
  • Participate in company drug testing procedures
Work Environment

This role is performed in an indoor skilled nursing environment with appropriate lighting and ventilation. Duties may occasionally include accompanying residents to outdoor or community activities as appropriate.
